Outfit: Japanese Haiku

Flowers withering
beneath the weight of the Sun.
Yet the weeds stand proud.

One of the best pieces of advice I've been given in my short lifetime is when you're feeling down, put on your highest pair of heels.  Yes that really is up there with all the other greats such as never sleep with your make up on and you don't meet nice guys in nightclubs. In fact, I would even go as far to say that it is the best piece of advice I've been given. Now, before you click that little red "x" in the corner of your screen and write me off as a raving lunatic or worse, a superficial airhead,  let me make my case.

You've woken up, you're feeling a bit crappy, but life isn't going to stand still and wait for you to find your happy place, is it? No, you have stuff to do. So you go to your wardrobe and pull out whatever's clean and close by, you throw on your most worn pair of ballet pumps and you scrape your hair up into a ponytail and you head out the door, with a face like thunder and razor sharp tongue to match.

You still feel crap.

Hate to break it to you, but by dressing carelessly, you've actually just plummeted your mood into the deepest depths of the underworld. High heels put you on a higher plane. Stomping around in a chunky badass wedge or strutting in a sexy stiletto is definitely going to elevate your mood. You'll stand taller, you'll feel more confident and you'll feel put together (regardless of how scattered you may feel on the inside).

So next time you're having a bad day instead of regressing into an endless pool of comfort in the form of flat, frumpy shoes, try slipping on your favourite pair of high heels and tell me it didn't brighten up your day.
