Travel | Hand Luggage Only - 5 Tips

I'm heading to Split, Croatia this summer and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share some of my packing tips with you guys. We all know that low cost airlines love a tight luggage allowance and nobody wants to be wasting valuable holiday time picking out clothes to wear - so here are my tips to make packing an absolute breeze!

1) WRITE A PACKING CHECKLIST

Have a little think about what you want to take with you and mentally (or physically) plan your holiday outfits - don't forget to add things like sunglasses, adapters and tampons to remind you. Writing a packing checklist will help make sure you don't forget anything - it also makes it harder for you to overpack.

2)  PACK IN OUTFITS THAT CAN BE MIXED AND MATCHED

When planning your outfits make sure that you can mix and match your bottoms with your tops. Depending on where you're staying, you can always hand wash your items or get them laundered. You can buy little tubes of travel wash at shops like Bodycare or Asda and hand wash your clothes in the sink. This will allow you to take less stuff and if you're going to a hot country, your clothes will be dry in no time.

3) USE REFILLABLE TRAVEL SIZE BOTTLES FOR TOILETRIES

If you travel a lot, the reusable kind are a good little investment, as you can simply fill them up with your existing toiletries. If not, you can always buy travel sizes at supermarkets or pharmacies.

4) SEPARATE THINGS LIKE UNDERWEAR, BIKINIS AND SOCKS INTO ZIPLOC BAGS

So you can find them easily of course!

5) PACK NO MORE THAN THREE PAIRS OF SHOES

You really can get by on three pairs of shoes - heels, trainers and sandals/flats. Don't make the mistake of overpacking on shoes as this will just make your suitcase heavier.

What are some of your favourite packing tips?
